What I do:
I help companies develop and expand their patent portfolios, and I often guide early-stage companies on how best to maximize their resources to make business-conscious patent decisions. I also help large companies strategically position and maximize the value of their more mature patent portfolios. While I’ve advised companies in many different areas, my technical knowledge includes artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, distributed ledger technology, image analytics, network design and software development.
Why Cooley:
We have high-caliber and well-grounded lawyers. Cooley also makes investments in its people and teams. While I was in law school, I also worked as a full-time patent agent at Cooley – and the support of my colleagues was invaluable.
What my clients value:
At Cooley, I’m able to be a counselor and strategic partner to my clients, rather than just a service provider. My clients also value my technical background and ability to quickly understand their new technology.
Some of my clients:
I’ve worked with clients that include Ping Identity, Sophos, Hedera Hashgraph, Collectors Universe and CheckVideo.
Likes:
I enjoy spending time with my three kids – Chris, Abigail and Brooklyn. I also like traveling to new places to see and experience novel things. I ski as much I can in the winter, and I enjoy hiking and backpacking in the mountains in the summer.
I root for:
I’m a fan of the Utah Utes football team (from the University of Utah, my alma mater) and the Washington Nationals baseball team.
