Special Counsel

Portrait of Randy Sabett

What I do:
I advise clients on a wide range of cybersecurity, privacy, IT licensing, and intellectual property issues, including compliance with relevant international, federal and state laws and regulations, government and industry standards, authentication, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), active defense, federated identity, identity theft, and security breaches. I worked at a couple of other firms and as senior technology counsel for a Silicon Valley information security company before coming to Cooley.

Why Cooley?
We’re tech savvy lawyers who always give practical, meaningful advice.

Some of my clients:
CertiPath, AOC Solutions, Euronet Worldwide, Corporate Executive Board, SAFE-BioPharma Association

Before the law:
I was a crypto engineer at the National Security Agency (NSA) in the Information Assurance Directorate (i.e., the defensive side of the house). I actually hold two US patents, one in the area of information security and the other in the area of active noise cancellation.
